Thanks for the luck Nieky. I got the verdict. It was my hard drive and the techie is trying to save as much as he can, but some of it is corrupt. I just hope I have most of what was in My Docs as that is where my textures were and some of the folders I had on desktop were important too. I asked him to try and save what was in my trash bin...I had TSR zip files in there that I could re download. I'm praying and crossing my fingers.

My other thought is...maybe to not use the backed up data in the game but start completely fresh with new downloads...some of the stuff I never use. That may be a project in itself...to do all that downloading from everywhere all over again. Don't know, I'll have to think on that one.

Maybe there is some hope. My uncle's harddrive looked dead a few weeks ago, but at the shop they could recover almost all data from it. He needed a new harddrive but his data was saved.

I know how bad it can be to loose all of it. Be glad you have at least a backup. Old is better than nothing.

And maybe it is something else, my latest troubles with the computer where cable-related. A very minor problem, new cable inside and everything worked again.

Thank you, laura bunny. I will know today if it was the hard drive and I will find out the damage. The thing is I keep realizing everyday how much more I may have lost. I was playing the game like a maniac between the last back up and now so I will have to start from a long time ago. I also downloaded tons of FA stuff and deleted old clothing from CAS and recatagorized it in SimPE. I also finally got Sims State U the way I wanted it and Bluewater and Downtown. Note to all, when doing something major always back it up. And it's not just the game, but tons of folders on desktop and in my Docs, programs and PSP which was downloaded and not on disk...so back up those important folders elsewhere too.

Oh no!I hope your stuff is ok!I'll be part of your support group,lol!I know what it's like to lose loads of data,i'v lost my huge downloads folders at least 3 times,but unlike you,through my own stupidity (not backing up data.Duh!)I really feel for you!Hope you get them all back fine!Laura x
