This is a screencap of the meditation center I designed for my favorite neighborhood. It's also the closest approximation I can get to a Buddhist altar. If *anyone* knows of a good decorative substitute for a Butsadon (little Buddha house), I'd love a link. For anyone looking to mod one, it looks like a *closed* cabinet about a foot high and 8" or so wide, but only 3-4" deep, which sits on a tabletop or coffee table, etc, not hanging on the wall. It's always kept closed when not in use, and my real one is *VERY simple*-- it doesn't have the scrollwork or lacquering of the fancier, more traditional models.
