Sophie and Thomas McClendon built this cozy little cabin many years ago, when they first came to Twinbrook. With very little money, they managed to raise two sons here and, despite their poverty, they were very happy in the bayou. Sophie, Thomas, and the boys all loved to fish in the pond and always managed to catch enough to ensure they never went hungry. They were even able to earn a little money selling the excess fish to the market. The bayou and surrounding wilderness gave them many hours of happiness and fulfillment. Now, the boys are grown, with families of their own and beautiful homes in the more affluent part of town. Sophie never thought she would leave the Old Homestead but with Thomas recent death, the bayou seems lonely and isolated. So Sophie has reluctantly decided to put her little cabin on the market and move to a home closer to her sons and grand children. She hopes that her happy home with be purchased by a young couple just starting out, and that the new owners will love the cabin as much as she did for many years to come.
Nestled among the trees on its own lovely pond, this cozy little cabin has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and an open living/dining/kitchen area with fireplace. The front porch provides a nice place to relax in your rocking chair, and a picnic area overlooking the pond provides a lovely spot for outdoor dinners. A covered laundry area (washer only) is located on the back porch. A bridge crosses the pond and leads to a small seating area on the opposite side where you can watch the fish jumping. The cabin is showing signs of age but is in good repair. As is, it would make a wonderful weekend retreat or, with some paint and upgrades, it could be a fine home for a couple or small family. You must see this home to appreciate the beauty and serenity of the Old Homestead.

My base game is patched through 1.67.2.024001. I have the World Adventures and Ambitions expansion packs and the Twinbrook, Monte Vista and Riverview worlds installed. This lot contains items from Ambitions and the Twinbrook world; however, if you do not have them, comparable base game items will be substituted. If there are no comparable base game items (such as the washer), the items shown in the screenshots will simply be omitted. No EA store items were used.
This lot was originally built on a 50x50 lot at 557 Bayou Gulch Drive in Twinbrook, in place of the Elkhorn Fishing Park. To achieve the same look as shown in the screenshots, you must place the lot here. Bulldoze the existing Elkhorn Fishing Park, change the lot type to “Residential”, and place the Old Homestead on the lot. (Note: This house should work on any 50x50 lot but I tried it on many different lots and it is almost impossible to get the lot to match the surrounding terrain. So I recommend that you put it on the Elkhorn Fishing Park.)
