Created for: The Sims 3
Built in the later 1570s by Japan's great Sengoku Period unifier, Oda Nobunaga, Azuchi Castle was as much of a step apart from traditional Japanese castle fortresses as Nobunaga was to his contemporaries. Flashy and lavish, it was supposed to serve not only as a military base against the Takeda and Uesugi clans nearby, but as a comfortable and impressive aesthetic marvel like unto as palace, its walls decorated in dragons and tigers instead of the same stones and wood of other castles. It was a beautiful architectural wonder, with an innovative upper floor of an octagonal shape that had never been used before, and Lord Nobunaga was so proud of his home that he even sent a folding screen painted with the castle to Pope Gregory XIII, but like the famous screen, the famous castle was lost. After the betrayal of Nobunaga's general, Akechi Mitsuhide, who forced his daimyo to commit ritual suicide, Akechi tried to claim the grand castle for his own. Debates persist on how the castle was destroyed--some believe that Nobunaga's son, trapped in the castle, tried to start a diversion in order to escape and set fire to the castle, and others believe it was Mitsuhide who started the catastrophic blaze--but in any event, all that now remains of Azuchi-jo is the ruins of the stone foundation near Lake Biwa, Japan. That is--until the virtual architect Murfee Lee brought together a team of sympathizers to the site to resurrect the castle to its former glory! Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, she brings to you Azuchi-jo: 5 floors, 5 bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms, 2 large EIK, and tons of spare rooms and space available! The lot is divided into the major castle complex, servant's quarters, garage and watchtower, and the landscape also offers 2 ponds and 1 pool. Treachery never prevails, and justice always wins, rule once more, Azuchi, and to all of you Simmers out there--ENJOY!!
