Created for: The Sims 3
Inspired by the mage's academy in Palanthas, from the Dragonlance fantasy series, this is a place more suited to neutral magic users and learners, rather than good or evil ones. Has 5 floors and a basement, with lots of spare room. 2 greenhouses, 2 classrooms, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, nectary and mess hall, and several studies.
In the Dragonlance series, one of the greatest of the 5 Towers of High Sorcery was the one located in Palanthas, an important city in the world of Krynn. Once a legendary and popular place for Red Robe mages of Neutrality and Black Robe mages of Evil to gather and learn, it was cursed after a Black Robe hurled himself from the tower to his death to keep the city officials from taking over the magic inside. His corpse dangled from the bloodied gates, and the surrounding haunted Shoikan Grove forest kept everyone out of the tower -- the Tower of High Sorcery off limits until a foretold Master of Past and Present could break through the curses and claim the tower and its secrets for his own....

EXPLANATION: I based the tower mostly off of partly what it was like when Raistlin (the Master of Past and Present) reclaimed the tower and opened it up as an academy for magic, taking on his apprentice Dalamar the Dark Elf. The minarets suck, and the domes were supposed to be bloodred, I know, but the central dome is frikkin awesome (I had to use an OMSP resizer to get it that big). There's SOME red there, pfft. Also, instead of the Shoikan Grove's oak trees I used the cypresses surrounding the tower in the forests of Nightlund, where the tower was moved during the War of Souls series, cuz I just love the Souls trilogy the most. I plopped down some Ghosts of the Darned, so ghosts would be drawn to your tower they way they were during the War of Souls series. I added two greenhouses in the rear, for growing your death flowers and life fruits and such, heehee.
I completely made up the interior, using only the layout from the Atlas of Krynn book. There are quite a few empty rooms (I put Hidden Room markers in them that you can get rid of in Build/Buy mode). The basement level is Raistlin's Chamber of Seeing, where his magic fountain (the Lucky Palms Wishing Well) and the bodies of his poor creatures were kept. I added two classrooms: a herbology class and a regular one. The only bathrooms are on the ground level (I forgot to add more, sorry). Raistlin's chambers are above that, and I tried basing them more off of the Larry Elmore illustrations than anything else. Dalamar's room is on the 3rd floor, and is gloomy in comparison. On the fourth floor is the infamous laboratory, housing the dreaded dragon-headed Portal to the Abyss...oh, and a workstation to invent magic widgets. The Portal is purely decorative, but I put a working AMB Time Machine in the 2nd floor study, next to the crystal bal--I-I mean Dragon Orb, lol.
If you've never read the Dragonlance books before and have no idea what the frik I'm blabbing about, then I hope you can still want to use this for any magical sims' retreat from reality! Enjoy!
