American author Nathaniel Hawthorne often stayed at this house on the Salem, MA waterfront when it was owned by his cousins, the Ingersolls. Built nearly two centuries earlier in 1667, it was made famous as the setting of Hawthorne's Gothic novel, The House of the Seven Gables. Today it is part of a museum complex that includes the old Salem Custom House and the Retire Beckett House (now the gift shop) and beautiful waterfront gardens...all part of this lot. There is a bedroom for each of the novel's main characters as well as the hidden passage behind the dining room fireplace. Hepzibah's shop opens onto the street and the secret alchemy room in the attic may hint at what she was selling. Part of my Supernatural Salem Series.

When decorating Seven Gables it was easy to get carried away but I had to edit back the custom content to make sure I stayed within file size limits.
